Canton Ohio Maternity Photography - Shannon (& Lee)

I've always been amazed at pregnancy & what a miracle it is that a baby is growing inside his mother. It's incredible, mind-boggling, just amazing! After just having gone through my own pregnancy last year, the whole process means even more to me now than it did before & I truly love every chance I get to photograph an expectant mother (and father).

Shannon & Lee are close, personal friends of Tim & me, and being able to photograph this maternity session for them meant more to me than you can possibly imagine! They have endured one of the most heart-wrenching journeys to becoming parents, suffering FOUR miscarriages over the course of seven years. Each loss was harder than the one before & after Shannon's last miscarriage in 2010, she & Lee had resolved that it must not be God's plan for them to have a biological child...or at least not at this phase of their life together. Amazingly, their relationship with each other & their faith in God only grew stronger despite the unbelievably hard circumstances they'd been through on four separate occasions.

They began researching adoption and then, unexpectedly, Shannon became pregnant again...for the fifth time. As excited as they were, it was bittersweet knowing that each time they had gotten this happy news in the past, it ended in heartbreak. When they announced the pregnancy to us as well as the rest of their friends and family, LOTS and LOTS of prayers immediately started going up for them and their sweet baby!

Well...as you can see...God answered those prayers in the way we were all hoping for...and Baby Samuel is due in just TWO weeks!!

I'll stop talking now so you can look at how adorable these *three* are. This is going to be one loved, adored, cherished little babe! :) I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET HIM!

She is headed to college this fall on a volleyball scholarship & also currently throws the discus & shot put in track. Amazing! Baby Maxson (Max) is so adorable! He was such a good little babe during his photo shoot & I just love all his expressions, those big eyes and super long eyelashes! What a handsome little guy!

Max may be one of the most prayed-for babies ever. His Mom & Dad had a long and at times, difficult journey to becoming parents. It seems everyone knows someone who has had a miscarriage, and Max's parents had to endure not one, but two heart-breaking losses before he came along. Tim and I were blessed enough to get to know Max's parents because his Dad was our realtor last year when we bought our first home. Beyond developing a business relationship, we quickly formed a friendship with him and his wife, too, and we were ecstatic when we found out Max was on the way! We prayed a lot for baby Max long before we ever met him, as did countless other friends & family members. We are so thankful for God bringing him safely into this world & we can't wait to see what lies ahead for him. God must have amazing plans for his life!

I was just testing my exposure in this shot, but I love his cute little stretch!

On a side note, if you are looking for an awesome realtor, Mark Seibert is your man! We had some insanely crazy circumstances to deal with in the purchase of our home, and Mark went the extra mile time & time again when most realtors would've been gone after the final paperwork had been signed. We can't say enough good things about our experience with him & the level of integrity he has as a business man. Thank you, Mark!!

The temperature on my rear view mirror said 34, but Sara was a trouper and smiled through the ice cold wind gusts & we got all the shots we needed...in record time! Canton Ohio Wedding Photography: Jesse & Rachel...A Country Wedding!

This was one of my favorite weddings ever to shoot! Tim and I had an awesome time and were honored to be able to document this gorgeous event for Jesse & Rachel. The wedding took place on Jesse's parents' property, which featured amazingly beautiful trees & a serene lake as the backdrop for their ceremony. The weather was a little overcast, but there was no rain, which is a photographer's dream when it come to outdoor shooting! Beyond this being a beautiful event, everything about Jesse & Rachel's day was so God-centered and you could sense so much love between the two of them and also from their loved ones who joined in this special celebration. I normally don't do this, but I'm going to include little notes by some of the photos that captured certain moments with sentimental value. All shots taken by Tim have a T* below them. Jesse & Rachel incorporated an amazing time of worship into the ceremony and they had their bridal party & parents circle around them. It was awesome!

Just after Jesse & Rachel were pronounced "husband and wife", they turned to the audience & started singing "This Thing Called Love" along with their bridal party. It was pretty cute!

I love this moment that Tim sneaked from around the corner just after they walked up the aisle. They are totally glowing with happiness!

Just before the Mother/Son dance, Jesse changed into the suit his Dad wore on his & Jesse's Mom's wedding day! It was a sweet surprise to his Mom, who was also having a birthday on Jesse & Rachel's big day.

I always say I love my clients, and I do...but I must admit that I have an extra-special place in my heart for this senior girl. Ashley is my eldest niece & I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. I was only 10 years old but I still remember looking through the nursery window at this beautiful, dark-haired baby and crying because I was so happy. I've been close to her throughout each stage of her life and now that she's all grown up, I'm able to say that she's not only my niece, but she's also my friend! She's got the most amazing comedic timing and she can tell a joke like no one else. Her singing voice is gorgeous & she gets good grades, too. It's been a joy to see her transform from that beautiful baby behind that nursery window to a beautiful young woman with the whole world just in front of her. Love you, Ash!

Rachel & Jesse: Engaged!

Rachel & Jesse are a beautiful couple, both inside and out, & it was my pleasure to capture this special time for them! I've been friends with Rachel for a long time, but I just recently met Jesse. Just from spending a few hours with him on a couple different occasions & seeing the two of them interact, I can already tell that they are totally made for each other...truly a perfect match!

We had a great time tromping around Jesse's family's property to get these shots. It was a dreary day but we had a great time and I love how the romance is so evident between these two lovebirds. I said I wasn't going to shoot any more weddings after Camden was born, but when Rachel asked me to shoot theirs...I couldn't say no. :) I'm looking forward to a beautiful wedding in just 3 short weeks! I'm already excited to blog about it...it's going to be an incredible event.

Rachel & Jesse...I wish you the best in your many years together as husband and wife. Marriage is a blessing...always cherish each other!

Introducing Our Son, Camden...and a Sneak Peek, Too!

Most of you know that my husband and I welcomed our first baby into the world on July 31st! Camden Reid was born at 5:07 am and he was a whopping 9 pounds, 13 ounces and 20.5 inches long! He's an amazing little guy...so sweet and cuddly and only cries when he needs a diaper change or is hungry. We are so blessed and we love him more than I could possibly ever put into words. I've been on maternity leave since the week before he was born, and this is my first official week back to work! I'm booking sessions like crazy...especially seniors! This is my favorite time of year!

This giant dandelion had us cracking up! Nina kept blowing on the seeds to try to get them to float away, but they weren't budging. Then...the faintest little breeze would show up and carry them off like it was nothing. So funny!

Tim and I had SO much fun shooting Randy & Rachel's wedding day! They are so in love and were both so happy on their big day...it was a blast to capture the emotion they had for each other! I loved how many unique elements they incorporated into their day, too. From Rachel's blue shoes, and the historical car they drove away in, to having coffee beans-instead of bird seed-thrown as they exited the church and the amazing, hand-carved log that their cake sat on...the whole day was just unique and so personal. 7-Month-Old Photo Shoot: Zeb

Oh my goodness. Zeb is one of THE cutest babies I've ever seen in my whole life! I was blessed enough to photograph his parents while they were waiting for him to arrive, and I also did some family photos for Zeb and his extended family around Christmastime. Zeb is now 7-months-old and cute as a button. I absolutely LOVED taking these photos. Just look below...he will melt your heart!

The picture below just makes my day. His expression is absolutely hilarious and cute!

Zeb's Mama wanted a picture of him looking at a picture I had taken of her while she was pregnant with him! I thought this turned out pretty cute! :)

Family Photo Shoot: Tim, Andrea & Bella

This was my third time photographing this lovely family! Back in September of 2009, I documented Tim & Andrea's exciting time of waiting for baby Bella to arrive. Then in November, I photographed sweet Bella when she was one-month-old. I've had a great time during all of their photo shoots, but this may have been the most fun yet! Tim & Andrea are two of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, and little Bella is such a laid-back, smiley, fun baby! Engagement/Family Photo Shoot: Randy & Cyndra

I had a great time at this combination engagement/family photo shoot! When I first found out that Randy had a 13-year-old boy and Cyndra had a 2-year-old girl, I immediately started thinking of how I would capture them together...both ages can be tricky to photograph! When we started the photo shoot, though, it was apparent right off the bat that the chemistry within the family was amazing! Sweet little Eden kept wanting to be held by her big brother, Alex, which I thought was just adorable. It was a lot of fun documenting this special time for this family, as Randy & Cyndra are engaged and about to start their new life together. She's an up-and-coming country artist and she regularly sings in the night club scene, as well as at big events such as First Friday, Local county fairs, and this coming weekend, she's in the finals of Canton Idol 2010! Bri was a complete joy to work with. Not only is she beautiful and was a piece of cake to photograph, she's kind, funny, sweet and has a great sense of humor. We had so much fun getting these shots at our various locations...she's a natural in front of the camera! Bri plans on pursuing a career in broadcasting, and after spending a few hours with her, I know that sounds like a perfect fit for her! Married: Mike & Allison

Everything about Mike and Allison's wedding was amazing and unique! First of all...they didn't really tell people they were getting married. Both having been a part of many friends' and family members' larger weddings, they decided to go the complete opposite direction and have a very intimate, family-only wedding event. The ceremony was held at the gorgeous, historical Tallmadge Church, followed by a fancy dinner at Fedeli.

Staying with the non-traditional theme, Mike & Allison chose to see each other before the wedding and even ride together to the church. From a photographer's perspective, this is a dream, because it allows for plenty of time for photos of the couple together! A lot of couples have to schedule a separate bridal session or a Trash The Dress session to get all the shots we were able to get with Mike & Allison.

Some other unique things? They never technically got engaged...they just basically began planning the wedding because they both knew they had found "the one". No wedding cake...just amazingly fabulous and fancy desserts at Fedeli. They didn't have a bridal party, but were surrounded by their families and began the wedding by sitting in the front pew of the church in between both sets of parents. They were married by Mike's childhood best friend who is now an ordained pastor in Illinois. He gave a wonderful challenge to everyone in attendance. The wedding was on Thanksgiving Eve...a Wednesday. This was their one year anniversary of meeting each other and they've said they'll celebrate their anniversary every year on Thanksgiving Eve, no matter what date it falls on. They ended their perfect day by showing up to the annual Thanksgiving Eve party Mike throws for all of his close friends. He had his roommate take care of all the arrangements and he and Allison just showed up at the party about an hour after everyone else. Still dressed in their tux and wedding gown, they walked through the door and announced "We got married!". Sweet little Roman behaved amazingly well for his session! He was a preemie and even though he was 9 days old when I photographed him, he only weighed in around 6/1/2 pounds on this day. What a sweetheart!

It was a chilly, but gorgeous fall day when I met with Jordan to do his senior photos. He was an awesome subject to photograph! He was super photogenic and had great style, too. Jordan was willing to do all kinds of poses even though he was suffering from a bad leg injury he got just two nights before our shoot. He just happens to be the running back for a huge Division I school in the area and is planning on playing in college. Despite the fact that he's a local football star, he had to be one of the nicest guys I've met and it was my pleasure meeting and photographing him! Who knew a place like this would be closed on a Monday afternoon? We still got some shots on the outer edge of the grounds, then we headed to a beautiful park that ended up being amazing and was an unexpected gift...I love the way the photos turned out! I've never seen so much rain as I did the day of Cliff and Amber's wedding! It was seriously a torrential downpour ALL day long. It actually started raining on Friday evening and didn't stop until well after the wedding was over on Saturday evening. Because of this, we weren't able to take advantage of the beautiful lake on the church's property for photos, but we made the most of it inside and we got a few of Cliff and Amber under the church's entryway awning. Despite the rain, it was a beautiful wedding, and Cliff and Amber are undoubtedly made for each other! They were one of the happiest and most in-love couples I've photographed...they made the day so much fun. Thanks, Cliff & Amber, for the opportunity to be a part of your special day! Congratulations again!

The groomsmen had a secret little rating system planned for "the kiss". Everyone cracked up!

Addison is the beautiful, brand new, baby girl of one of my closest friends, Ashli. Ashli and I grew up together at the same school, playing 3 different sports together and having lots of sleepovers, late-night talks, and so many memories, I can't even begin to name them! I've always said that Ashli is a breath of fresh air. She's one of those people who make you feel both energized and at ease at the same time. We've had so many good times together over the years, and I'm grateful for her impact on my life. Addison is one lucky girl to get Ash for a Mom. And I can't forget Daddy Nick! Nick and Ashli were married 2 years ago and it's been so fun to see their relationship grow in different ways as time goes by. Nick is already comfortable with the Daddy role...I'd say they're both naturals!

Family Session: Steve, Suzy & Kids

It was so nice meeting and spending time with this adorable family! They have quite a unique story, and I've been so excited to blog about them because I think they're just remarkable. Plus, they're all so cute!

A couple years ago, Steve & Suzy had four beautiful daughters and they had pretty much decided they were done having children. After making this decision, they really felt God calling them to have another baby. While at a restaurant one night, they struck up a conversation with their server, who was pregnant and in the beginning stages of finding an adoptive family for her baby. She asked Steve & Suzy if they would be interested in adopting her baby, and they told her they were! Amazing, right? One conversation led to a relationship with this wonderful young woman who truly loved her son, but wanted a better life for him than what she knew she could provide.

Steve & Suzy were able to journey through the pregnancy with her, taking her to all her appointments, hearing the heartbeat and seeing the first sonogram together, and even being in the delivery room and cutting the cord when Ty was born! They took him home with them the next day and he is now almost 3 months old! The adoption is set to be finalized on October 15th, so please pray that all goes smoothly for them.

Steve & Suzy fully believe that being at that restaurant, that particular night was not a coincidence, but that God brought this young woman and Ty into their lives for a wonderful purpose.

Megan had a beloved horse, Zaney, who has since passed away, but while he was living, this was the last place he was boarded. Belly Session: Kim and Josh

It was an honor for me to photograph Josh and Kim during the pregnancy of their first child, Calvin. Josh & Kim are an amazing picture of what faith in action looks like, as they recently learned that their baby has a condition called Trisomy 18, yet their faith in Jesus is simply unshakable. I felt that they could do a better job explaining their current situation than I could, so I asked if they could come up with a little something for my blog, and below is the amazing piece they sent me to be able to share with you.

At 21 weeks of our 1st pregnancy, our doctors alerted us to the presence of multiple developmental abnormalities with our growing son: Calvin. At 22 weeks it was confirmed that he has a chromosomal abnormality known as Trisomy 18. Trisomy 18 is typically fatal with only 10% of babies with this condition making it to 1 year old. Since our Calvin has some serious developmental abnormalities (severe heart defects, etc) he will most likely not live very long after birth. This has affected our lives unlike anything else, however we believe that God is in control of this situation and every situation.
Some people would say that our circumstances are not fair, and on a bad day we would agree, however, instead of looking at things in a negative light we are trying to view everything in light of God's sovereignty and yes, even in this difficult situation give Him praise. We can be thankful that we are able to conceive, we can be thankful for being able to feel Calvin move in the womb, for our special moments of bonding with him while he’s still here and most of all, we can be thankful that we have hope that through Jesus Christ we can be with Calvin again. Calvin and his medical diagnosis is not a fluke or a mistake, he is our son and his life was planned down to the finest detail before the world was formed. God has formed him in the womb just like any other baby and his life has purpose. No matter how short his life will be full and God will use him in whatever way that He sees fit. Calvin will have the benefit of knowing that He was used of God in a mighty way through the lives of his mom and dad and for those around them. He has already taught us how to love and trust God and each other more deeply than we could have ever imagined. We know that this is happening for a purpose and although, we may never know what that purpose is (while on this earth at least) we know God works everything together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). We know that Calvin is a work of God and that his life is according to God’s purpose. And, we know that The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, Blessed be the name of the Lord (Job 1:21).

Actually, the main purpose behind this session was to get professional shots for Tim's website (he's the pastor of a church and needed to update his bio photos), but we figured it would be fun to get some of the two of them together, as well! Katie is my sweet, beautiful, 14-year-old niece. I was honestly getting teary-eyed while editing these photos...I can't believe how grown up she is! I am so proud of Katie and the amazing young woman she's turning out to be. This girl is so competitive and is awesome at several different sports...with soccer (goalie) being her specialty. She's also one of the funniest members of our family...I could listen to her tell stories all day long. She has an infectious laugh and always has a great attitude. We always have fun together! Engaged: Charlie & Stephanie

I had a great time with Charlie & Stephanie at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. We had an absolutely gorgeous day that was preceded by several days of rain, so everything in the Gardens was lush, green, and beautiful! Since meeting Stephanie at our consultation back in the fall for her and Charlie's upcoming wedding, I've run into her three times out in public! It's always quick and in passing, so it was fun to actually have a couple hours together during this session to chat and get to know each other better. She's a beautiful girl with an infectious laugh and wonderful personality. It was fun getting to know Charlie, too. Most guys don't exactly LOVE to get their picture taken, but he was a champ and went along with everything Stephanie and I threw at him...and did really well! Thanks, Charlie & Stephanie, for having me capture these special moments for you. I can hardly wait for your wedding in September. It will be here before we know it!

Family Session: Tom, Kirsten & Girls

Kirsten is my first cousin, and sadly, we don't get to see each other very often. She and Tom live in the lovely New England area with their beautiful twin daughters, Uma & Sylvie. When they announced plans to come to Ohio for a visit this spring, I was excited at the thought of seeing them and also, photographing their sweet little family!

Uma and Sylvie were born in January 2006 and things seemed to be going smoothly until the girls turned one-year old. Tom & Kirsten noticed that Uma was hitting all the big milestones as expected, but Sylvie was actually losing some of the skills she'd acquired in the first year of her life. For the next year, they endured a long road of testing on Sylvie to figure out what was going on. By January 2008, Sylvie was diagnosed with Krabbe Disease. Tom & Kirsten were told that most babies who have this disease don't live past age 2.

Sylvie is now 3/1/2 and although each new day is a challenge, she brings so much happiness and joy to the family. Tom & Kirsten are stellar parents who love both of their daughters immensely. It's apparent how much love they have for their girls, and I can't think of two better people to care for and love on little Sylvie. Please say a prayer for Sylvie and the rest of the family whenever she crosses your mind.

Jackson is the beautiful son of our (my and Tim's) good friends, Ashley and Mike. I was blessed enough to be at the hospital when Ashley delivered, and although I couldn't be in the room during her c-section, I was lucky enough to capture some amazing moments for the family after Jack finally arrived! The following photos were taken when Jack was 11 days old. Newborns are usually pretty challenging for me to photograph, but I love babies, no matter their mood, so I continue to photograph newborns. :) Jack was the easiest newborn I've had yet! Tim and I love you and are so excited to continue our friendship as you start your new journey as parents.

What a beautiful day! 24 hours before the wedding, the forecast called for a 90% chance of precipitation and thunderstorms. No wedding photographer (or bride!) likes to hear that! I awoke on the day of the wedding to blue skies with wispy white clouds, and couldn't have been happier! I checked the forecast again, and it had changed to ZERO percent chance of rain. When does that happen?! The whole day went off without a hitch and it was truly a beautiful, God-centered event. Belly Session: Bobbi (8 months)

Meet my beautiful best friend, Bobbi! We met in August 2000, when we moved into our freshman dorm together as total strangers (besides our one previous phone conversation deciding who was bringing what). We hit it off right away and quickly became best friends. We ended up rooming together both on and off-campus for the next 4 years. As if being roommates wasn't enough, we also took the same classes, got 3 of the same jobs at the same places so we could work together, played intramural sports together, and attended the same Bible study and church! I could literally write a book about all the memories we've made together in the past 9 years. We've shared many happy times, and some sad times, too. She has been there for me in unbelievable ways, and I don't think I could ever repay her for her loyalty to me. I can't wait to meet this sweet little baby girl who's due in just 11 days! This new chapter of your life is sure to create many more memories and I can't wait to be a part of it! Thank you, Bobbi, for your friendship. I love you.

Another reason Bobbi's pregnancy is special: she and her twin sister, Lindsey, who is also one of my gorgeous, amazing, closest friends, is also pregnant! Bobbi is due May 29th and Lindsey is due July 29th (with her 2nd)! How beautiful are these two girls??

Newborn Session: Zari

What a sweet baby girl! Zari is absolutely beautiful and she has the most striking features. I had a great time capturing these moments with 8-day-old Zari. She was a champ and let us wrap her up in blankets, lay her on the hardwood floor, and even dress her up in a onesie with her Daddy's favorite musician on it (Bob Marley). Thanks, Eric & Amy for the opportunity to capture these memories for you. There are many more to come!

Family Session: Dan, Monica & Girls

We had lovely, warm sunshine on the day I met Dan, Monica & their girls for a family session, but boy, was it windy! You know you're in for it when the forecast says "Gusty Wind". I felt bad for the girls because their hair was constantly blowing in their little eyes, but besides that, I think it's safe to say that everyone had a great time! Thanks, Dan and Monica, for choosing me to capture your family memories! More to come...

Senior Session: Christina

Wow. I don't have a lot to say about this senior session...except that it was amazing! Christina had loads of personality, as well as outfits, accessories, shoes, shoes, and more shoes! She was willing to do anything Tim and I asked her to do, including climbing ladders, crawling through thorn bushes, and walking on railroad tracks in high heels. I don't know about you, but I'd say it was worth the work!

Tulip Tree Fever

I've been in love with tulip trees for YEARS. This is going to sound cheesy, but literally...they take my breath away. Just ask my poor husband who has to look at every blooming tree I see and point out like a 5-year-old who's just seen Mickey Mouse for the first time. I'm telling you...I absolutely love these trees!

While living in Michigan for 8 years, I knew right where all the good tulip trees would bloom every spring and I have tons of photos of them. But since I just moved back to Ohio last June, I had yet to search and discover the places they bloomed near my new place of residence. Until today.

I was walking down my driveway to get the mail today when I looked up and across the street like I always do. Across from our house is my great-grandparent's old property which includes a massive cornfield, a barn, and a farmhouse that my grandmother was actually born in. Today, when I looked at the house, I stopped in my tracks and started squinting to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. To my surprise and delight, it was the biggest, tallest, fullest tulip tree I've ever laid my eyes on...right across the street from my house! As soon as I got the mail, I hurried back in the house, grabbed my camera, and rushed over to capture this beauty. It made my day!

See it? I was even zooming in when I took this photo, so imagine how hard it was for me to spot it with the poor vision I've got!

A little vintage finish...

I know these petals are going to curl up and die in a day or two, but I had to take some back to my house to put on the windowsill above my kitchen sink. Nothing says "Spring" like fresh flowers!

Teen Session: Ashley

Meet my beautiful niece, Ashley! She's 16, almost 17, and I can hardly believe it. Since all of my siblings are several years older than me, I was an aunt at the age of 10...all because of Ash! I hate to sound like one of those people who says "I remember when...", but really...I remember when I first saw her, laying in her little newborn crib on the other side of the glass in the hospital nursery. I was so overwhelmed with emotion that I just couldn't stop crying! I've always felt like Ashley was more like my little sister than my niece, and it's been so amazing to watch her grow up and turn into such a beautiful, talented, funny, smart, young woman. This was a fun session we had this past week. Next year at this time, we'll be doing another session and it will be for senior pictures! Unbelievable! (Note: She is the older sister of Katie & Stephanie. See any resemblances?)

This is one of Ash's favorites! She says it's "edgy". :)
